IiP Promotes Values Driven Cultures

Investors in People Philippines (IiP PH) encouraged organizations to adopt valuesdriven cultures as a means to achieve high performance and sustainable business results.

Speaking at the 6th IiP Concourse on July 26, IiP International-United Kingdom director David Dale said organizational culture provides continuity over time, making it all the more important for an individual’s personal values to match organizational values.

Also presenting at the concourse were Lopez Holdings Corporation president Salvador Tirona and First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) president Edwin CoSeteng. Lopez Holdings and FPIP were recently recertified against the IiP’s sixth-generation standard. FPIP achieved IiP Silver recognition.

Tirona discussed “Values in Practice” and shared how the Lopez Achievement Awards, an internal business excellence program, increased the weight of “behavioral manifestation of values” in its criteria for judging from 20% in 2003 to 40% currently.

“This is to clearly make the statement that the demonstration of the Lopez Values should be the first consideration of screeners and judges in evaluating whether a project or team or individual is worthy of recognition by the group,” he said.

CoSeteng spoke about “Values- Driven Growth” and narrated that the Lopez Values formed the foundation for the company’s purpose and passion.

For example, FPIP’s purpose of contributing to national development and job creation by catalyzing industrial growth is anchored on the Lopez Group’s values of nationalism and social justice. In addition, each of the values fuels the fire for the company’s passion to serve customers with the best services and utilities.

“Values ensure that we achieve our purpose,” he said.

Asian Eye Institute, a Lopez Group member company, is IiP Bronze-recognized.

Meanwhile, the concourse feted Philippines-based winners of the IiP Awards, an annual worldwide competition of IiP-certified organizations. For 2016, there were 340 applicants, 24 of them from the Philippines and five were short-listed.

Other presenters were from Asiapro Cooperative, Watsons Personal Care Stores, Servicio Filipino and South Cotabato Integrated Port Services, which received the IiP Gold Employer of the Year Award 2016 in London.(Story/Photos by: Carla Paras-Sison)
